Honeycombs in the Hosoya Triangle  

In this presentation we describe how to explore certain geometric patterns embedded in the Hosoya Triangle (also known as the Fibonacci triangle). These patterns are embedded in the triangle when the triangle is tiled using hexagonal tiles exhibiting a honeycomb pattern. We then present how these patterns may help undergraduate students rediscover old Fibonacci identities and discover some new ones as well.
